Yongey Buddhist Center is a non-profit organization that relies on volunteer participation. The organization operates as a Dharma Center for the Very Venerable Yongey Mingyur Rinpoche with activities that include the publication and dissemination of Mingyur Rinpoche’s teachings, history, activities, projects and teaching schedule. President Mei Yen Ladle was the Central Coordinator for his 2003-04 world teaching tour and his North American tours in 2006 and 2009.
Yongey Buddhist Center offers weekly group worship services followed by classes in the Buddhist religion. The Center also sponsors guest lecturers and teachers for special Buddhist teachings and empowerments. Bi-monthly weekend retreats are also held at the Center.
Yongey Buddhist Center hosts three food drives each year, one in spring, summer and in winter. Volunteers raise funds for the collection of food, clothing and medicine for monasteries and others in need of assistance.
It is believed that through rescuing animals and releasing them back to their habitat one cultivates the compassion for all sentient beings. The practice and participation in such activity is a blessing for all sentient beings. Yongey Buddhist Center holds a monthly animal release.
Yongey Buddhist Center sponsors a picnic in June every year to show appreciation for the understanding and support of the neighbors around the Center and to show thanks to all the volunteers who help. The vegetarian buffet style picnic is held in the hills above Milpitas in Ed Levin Park. For details on this pot luck event, please contact the Center at 408-263-2740.
Christmas Gathering (Potluck)
Yongey Buddhist Center also sponsors a Christmas party on December 25th @ 1:00PM at the Center address. Both vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes are served and enjoyed by all at this holiday event.
