We are happy to report the visit of Tulku Tashi to our Center while on “winter break” from his studies at the University of Wisconsin. During his stay, Tulku met with members and gave talks at the Center. He also traveled up to the Pal Karma Dorje Dzingpa Ling Retreat Land for a 10-day private retreat.
Tulku’s arrival was celebrated with a Welcome Dinner at the Mayflower Restaurant on January 8th. Over the following days, Tulku met with members and helped with activities at the Center before departing for the Retreat Land on January 12th. Once settled at Pal Karma Dorje Dzingpa Ling, Tulku commenced his White Tara Retreat in the Shrine Hall of the main house. He ventured out only to visit the Stupa site during breaks in the rainy weather. Fortunately, the members had prepared many vegetarian dishes for Tulku’s retreat, which greatly simplified the cooking of meals. Tulku concluded his retreat on January 20th and returned to the Bay Area.
On Sunday, January 21st, the members gathered to meet with Tulku and listen to his talk on Dorje Drollo and meditation practice. Following the talk, the members enjoyed a vegetarian pot luck lunch and farewell visit with Tulku. Later, Tulku prepared several Buddhist statues for consecration and blessed them before departing for Madison the following morning. We are extremely grateful for Tulku Tashi visiting the Yongey Buddhist Center and for his special guidance and teachings.
