We are happy to report that Mingyur Rinpoche visited the New York Branch of the Yongey Buddhist Center over the three days of July 4 thru 6. Members traveled to the Newark airport to greet Rinpoche and escort him back to Flushing where the following events were held.
On the evening of the 5th, The Very Venerable Yongey Mingyur Rinpoche bestowed the Guru Rinpoche Empowerment to an overflowing crowd of over 700 at the Sheraton Hotel in Flushing. Prior to the empowerment ceremony, Rinpoche accepted those seeking Refuge numbering well over a hundred. The empowerment ceremony was filmed by the production company Triptych Journey who is preparing a documentary film on “The Precious Guru”. Rinpoche was also interviewed for the documentary earlier in the day.
On the 6th, the New York Branch members held an Appreciation Luncheon for Mingyur Rinpoche and the 5 lamas accompanying him (Tsangar Rinpoche, Khenpo Kunga, Lama Tsering, Lama Yadie and Lama Gyatso). Following the luncheon, Rinpoche accompanied the members to the home where they meet and blessed the Center before journeying on to KTC for the Kagyu Monlam.
