This past week the Yongey Buddhist Center was blessed with the visit of Khenpo Gyurme and Lamas Tsering and Karchoe. After the warm welcome given last Sunday, Khenpo Gyurme and the Lamas journeyed up to Pal Karma Dorje Dzingpa Ling in Northern California to visit the Enlightenment Stupa. While there, special efforts were given to preparing and reciting over a hundred Sutra texts for the Buddha Hall. They also made an audio recording of the “Calling Guru Chant” that had been requested by the Dharma students.
After returning from the mountains, Khenpo Gyurme and the Lamas were treated to an enjoyable lunch at the Google headquarters in Mountain View, followed by a site-seeing trip to San Francisco. A walk across the Golden Gate Bridge was one of the highlights along with a visit to Golden Gate Park and Fisherman’s Warf.
On Sunday morning the Center was filled with Dharma students who had come to hear Khenpo Gyurme teach on The Medicine Buddha. The teaching gave a good introduction with the Khenpo talking in English with Dorje Palmo providing a Chinese translation. Following the teaching a group photo was taken and a pot luck luncheon was served with many different vegetarian dishes enjoyed by all. In the afternoon, Khenpo Gyurme continued the day’s teachings with a friendly question and answer session. Everyone who attended felt a close connection to Khenpo Gyurme and were well rewarded by his instruction.
Khenpo Gyurme along with Lama Tsering and Lama Karchoe have now departed for Phoenix where they will participate in a special Long Life Ceremony for Mingyur Rinpoche in October. We are extremely grateful for their time and efforts in visiting the Yongey Buddhist Center and their special guidance and teachings while here.
