The Yongey Buddhist Center welcomes Khenpo Gyurme from our Guru’s Tergar Oseling Monastery in Kathmandu. He will be visiting for 10 days in September prior to his participation in the Long Life Ceremony for Mingyur Rinpoche in Phoenix. He will be accompanied by Lama Tsering from Tergar Oseling and by Lama Karchoe from the Tergar Monastery in Bodhgaya. Khenpo Gyurme and the Lamas will be attending our practice on Sunday the 21st to meet everyone and enjoy a welcome pot-luck lunch. During the following week they will be visiting the Enlightenment Stupa at Pal Karma Dorje Dzingpa Ling in Northern California. Then on Sunday the 28th we are pleased to announce that Khenpo Gyurme will give a special teaching at the Center on the Medicine Buddha. The morning teaching will be followed by a pot-luck luncheon and then a discussion session in the afternoon.
About Khenpo Gyurme
Khenpo Gyurme is Principal and head teacher at the Tergar Oseling Monastery in Kathmandu. He was ordained a monk at the Tergar Monastery in Tibet and received his Khenpo degree at the Sherab Ling monastic college in India. Khenpo Gyurme taught for three years at Sherab Ling prior to his appointment to Tergar Oseling. He is the nephew of the late Lama Soto, Mingyur Rinpoche’s life-long attendant, and exhibits the features of his uncle. Khenpo Gyurme has studied meditation extensively with Tai Situ Rinpoche and Yongey Mingyur Rinpoche and is well known in the Tergar monastic community.
