Tergar Osel Ling Trip

In October Dorje Palmo journeyed to Nepal to visit our Guru’s monastery, Tergar Osel Ling, in the hills above Kathmandu. Dorje Palmo was accompanied by her husband, Dwayne, who describes the visit.

Upon arrival we were warmly welcomed by Principal Chenme Khenpo Gyurme and provided accommodations in the new guest rooms at the monastery. Mingyur Rinpoche’s mother, Amala, also greeted us and we were privileged to later visit with Rinpoche’s grandfather in his quarters and receive his personal blessings.

During our stay we were fortunate to attend a Guru Rinpoche Tsok in the main temple where Dorje Palmo presented offerings on behalf of the Yongey Buddhist Center. The offerings were distributed to all the lamas and monks in attendance and others at the Tergar Osel Ling. Another highlight of our trip was to tour the new education building which is near completion. The construction of the dining hall, classrooms and guest rooms are completed with just the large teaching hall to be finished. The new education building is very spacious and will be a huge benefit to the monastery.

Before leaving, Dorje Palmo hosted a farewell dinner in Thamel for Amala and the monastery staff. We were privileged to have Rinpoche’s older brother, Tsoknyi Rinpoche, and family join us for the festive dinner. In appreciation, Dorje Palmo wants to acknowledge the wonderful care and attentiveness provided by the monastery and also our friends, Pradip and Surrendra, who made every effort to ensure our visit was most enjoyable.
