Trip to Nepal 2024

Last month, members of the Yongey Buddhist Center journeyed to Tergar Osel Ling Monastery to meet with Mingyur Rinpoche about the future of the Retreat Land.  The Center is looking to expand it’s retreat operations and find help with caretaker duties.  Rinpoche provided some valuable advice and recommended the Center connect with Tergar Retreats for future retreat operations.

While at Osel Ling, the members visited the Swayambhunath Stupa and toured the new shrine hall with Khenpo Gyurme.  They also made offerings to the Lamas and monks at Osel Ling and those at Tergar Monastery in Bodhgaya.

The members then journeyed to Lumbini where they were fortunate to visit the Mahadevi Temple with Mingyur Rinpoche and help celebrate his birthday.  During this visit, the members also attended the celebrations of the new Thousand Buddha Temple and made offerings to Chokyi Nyima Rinpoche and the Lamas and monks.

Before departing Kathmandu, the members visited the Mahabuddha Temple in Patan to meet with the Preservation Committee and reaffirm the Center’s continuing support for the lighting of butter lamps.  The group also visited the Great Boudha Stupa at Boudhanath and ordered prayer flags for the Retreat Land Stupa.

Lastly, the members thank Mingyur Rinpoche and Khenpo Gyurme for their help during the visit, as well as Pradip’s family for hosting a farewell dinner.
